Instructions for the presentation seminar
Length: 10 minutes presentation, 5-10 minutes Q&A, 20 minutes oral examination
Tone: Informative/Convincing
Language: English
One project is presented per session. The session consists of a presentation and Q&A session which is open for everyone, and an oral examination with only the group members and the teaching staff.
Verbal presentation 10 minutes
Open for allIntroduction
- Brief presentation of the project team, the client/partner company and the project assignment as originally conceived.
Context and challenge
- Brief description of the background and context for the project and the value proposition for the design solution - who problem does it solve/what opportunity does it seize? How does it create value, and for whom?
- Describe the evolution of the design solution in collaboration with the client during the development process
Demonstration - Pre-recorded video
- Prepare a video that presents the value, utility and potential of the design solution. This should be a pre-recorded video that demonstrates the content, features and functionality of the design solution using the interactive specification prototype.
- Expected length: 1-2 minutes
Prepare carefully to make good use of the limited time. The video will also be linked in the group report and should work as a stand-alone video. For that reason, include some (very) short introductory remarks describing the project. And add a voice-over or text that describes what is happening in the video.
This is a great opportunity to produce material for your personal portfolios that showcases your abilities.
Concluding remarks
- Summary of key points and suggestions/recommendations for how the client might move forward with the project.
Q&A (5-10 minutes)
Open for allOpportunity for the client/partner company representative to offer comments and ask questions.
And after that, questions from the general audience.
Oral examination (20 minutes)
Only group members and teaching staffFor this part, the audience is excused and the presenting group answers questions about their project work from the teaching staff.
The oral examination is about your experience of the project work and its outcomes. See examples questions below:
