If a course is discontinued while I am enrolled in a programme, what happens to my degree?

The discontinuation of a course offered within a programme while you are studying does not affect your ability to graduate, as long as you complete the course before it is discontinued.

What happens to my degree when a course is discontinued?

There are two answers to this question:

1. If you have completed the discontinued course before it was discontinued and included it in a degree that you have obtained, it does not affect your degree.

2. First, find out if the discontinued course is included (is mandatory) in the programme you have studied. You can find this information in the programme syllabus. The programme syllabus can be found via kursplan.lnu.se.

If the programme syllabus states that the discontinued course is a mandatory course, you will need to take an equivalent course to obtain a programme-specific degree. If the programme syllabus states that the discontinued course is an elective or optional course, consult with a studycounsoller on what you need to do to obtain a programme-specified degree. If you have completed one or more components of the discontinued course, you can apply for credit transfer.

What happens if a programme is discontinued and I have forgotten to apply for my degree?

If I have completed (passed) an exam component, do I need to retake that component?

No, you only need to retake the exam components that you have failed. The exam components that you have already completed (passed), that is, received a passing grade for, do not need to be retaken.

I no longer live in the location where the course was offered, can I take the exam online?

No, if the exam is an hall exam, it must be written on-site and sign up is required (done via Ladok). If you are unable to take the exam at the location specified in the exam schedule, there may be an opportunity to take the exam at another location, more information and the form can be found at Information from the School of Business and Economics.

Can I credit transfer in grades for a course that is under discontinuation?

No, you cannot transfer in grades for a course that is under discontinuation. However, you can transfer out grades from the course that is under discontinuation into an active course .
