    • Step 1: Please email the course teacher your exact* computer name. This is required before you can access the installation files on this page. 

      Without the computer name registered on the license server by your teacher, the software will not work.

      This is how you find the computer name: 

      in Windows: Windows Start - Settings - System - About - (Device name)

      in MacOS: Apple logo - About this computer - System report - (computer name at the bottom of the window)

      *Note: We need your exact computer name spelling, that is, exactly how you see it on your screen (i.e., including all small and capital letters, special characters, numbers and letters). It is easiest just to copy-paste it into an email.

    • Step 2: Activate the VPN connection on to LNU servers on your computer.

      VPN is required to use MAXQDA ever time because we are using what is called "shared network licenses". Please read this article, https://serviceportalen.lnu.se/en-us/article/1448381

      Your course teacher cannot help you with VPN connection issues. The VPN is operated, hosted, and supported by Linnaeus University IT. Contact them in case of connection problems after you read the instructions on serviceportalen (see link above).

    • Note:

      • The server address you need to enter in the login window when prompted in the installation process is: maxqda.lnu.se
      • Normally, the default port number (21990) should have automatically appeared in your login window. If it is missing add 21990 manually.

      IMPORTANT!

      If no license name appear in the Search window (3), try to enter MAXQDA_2024-2025 as the license name below.
