Welcome to the School of Business and Economics!

Congratulations to the admission to the International Business Strategy master programme! We are looking forward to meeting you in Kalmar fall 2017! The upcoming year will then contain studies in international business strategy and marketing which will deepen your theoretical knowledge in the area as well as your practical insights through case based fieldwork and reports. As part of an international programme, the cross-cultural learning environment will spur your knowledge development and create an arena for personal growth.

 

A few weeks prior to the start of the semester you will get access to your student account that you will use to access our student web pages, programme and course information etc. You also arrange a LNU-e-mail to be used for all formal communication during your studies at Linnaeus University.

Programme and course introductions takes place during week 35. Please note that there are university introduction activites planned also for week 34 that we highly recommend that you attend. Thus, make sure to be on site in advance to be settled and ready to attend the activities!

Programme start

The programme start takes place on Monday the 28th of August at 12.30-17.00 in Ny299 at the School of Business and Economics, Linnaeus University, Kalmar (visiting address Kalmar Nyckel, Gröndalsvägen 19, 391 82 Kalmar). You will then meet the Head of the programme, Susanne Sandberg, and the programme team, as well as the other programme students. You will get important information about the programme and courses for the upcoming year of studies at the International Business Strategy programme, thus it is important to attend.

In relation to the programme start we also arrange program specific workshops in intercultural communication and multi-cultural team building. The first one follows on the introduction the 28th of August and we will spend the afternoon to get to know each other. A second session on Intercultural communication and cultural intelligence takes place in the afternoon of the 29th of August. The first of two Academic writing sessions takes place Wednesday the 30th of August. The course introduction and first lecture takes place Thursday the 31st of August. Then Friday 1st of September a library introduction and visit is booked.

So as you can see, the first week of the programme includes daily activites which you are requested to attend to get the best possible start of the programme. 

 

Course start

The first course is International Business Strategy in Emerging Country Markets (course code: 4FE516). Course coordinator is Susanne Sandberg, susanne.sandberg@lnu.se.

As a student you need to register yourself on each course - this takes place one week prior and one week after course start. Register to the first course via lnu.se, click In English and then Education/New Student.

You need to be registered on your course in order to be able to sign up for written exams, collect student financing and so on.

Syllabus, literature list and timetable

Before your programme starts you can find syllabus, literature list and timetable online. Go to lnu.se, click In English and then Education/New Student. There you will find information and links to the different search functions. The timetable should be complete and published about four weeks before the course starts. Each course is planned for 40 hours of studies each week, besides the scheduled activities there is also time for self-studies. The syllabus and literature list are found in the same document and shown in PDF-format.

If you are unable to attend the programme start in Week 35, you must notify us at: terese.nilsson@lnu.se. We must have your notification 23d of August at the latest.
