Information from your programme coordinator

Hello!

My name is Andreas Petersson (link to staff page) and I am the programme coordinator for the Mathematics and Modelling programme. On the 31st of August at 10:15, we will meet for Program Start on the 2nd floor in house B, room B2034. Feel free to contact me by email: andreas.petersson@lnu.se.

At Linnaeus University, we use the learning platform Moodle. The Mathematics and Modelling programme also has a Moodle page where we communicate important information to our programme students (link to programme page).

During the first study period, you will take the following two courses:

4MA411 Integration Theory (7.5 credits)

4MA508 Statistical Data Analysis (7.5 credits)

Course literature:

Gareth James, Daniela Witten, Trevor Hastie, Robert Tibshirani:

An Introduction to Statistical Learning with Applications to R,

Springer, latest edition (400 of 607 pages).

Please note that you are required to have access to your own laptop (Windows, macOS, or Linux). It is recommended that it is no more than two years old.

Orientation

Before the semester begins, the International Office hosts on campus Orientation Days. During Orientation, you will receive practical information to prepare for your studies, get to know the campus, and have the chance to meet other international students.

You will receive a formal invitation and schedule by email.

Student web and tuition

Here you can access your courses, student email, Ladok (the national student records system), graded exams, and much more. Once you have completed your registration you will also be able to view your schedule. Note that you have to register to your courses in Ladok and participate in the programme from the day one.

Tuition for students from outside the EU/EEA must have been received by the university before the 1st of June. Read more information here.
