Information from your programme coordinator
Welcome! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and provide some initial information about your upcoming studies.
My name is Amilcar Soares, and I am the Program Coordinator for the Master's Program in Interactive AI Systems at Linnaeus University in Växjö. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at amilcar.soares@lnu.se.
The program in Interactive AI Systems focuses on the design and development of intelligent systems that actively collaborate with humans. These systems learn from, adapt to, and support users in real time, placing people at the center of the AI lifecycle—from training and development to evaluation and improvement. During the program, you will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as machine learning, information visualization, human-computer interaction, and explainable AI, while also addressing ethical, societal, and sustainability challenges related to AI . The program begins with foundational and advanced courses, so it is recommended that you refresh your programming skills and your knowledge of mathematics and basic machine learning concepts before starting.
Program Start
Information about the Mandatory "Program Start" Meeting will be posted on the program webpage. The meeting is mandatory to attend for all admitted program students. The official start date is August 31, 2026.
Communication Platforms
We commonly use MyMoodle to share program-related information, communicate with instructors, and interact with fellow students. You will need your Linnaeus University student account to access the platforms. Information on how to activate your account can be found on lnu/new student. Moodle course rooms are available to admitted students for a limited time after the course starts. Continued access requires completed registration.
First Semester Overview
During your first semester, you will study key components of interactive AI systems, including:
- Foundations for Interactive AI Systems
- Information Visualization
- Research Methods in Computer and Information Science
- Machine Learning for Interactive Systems
- AI, Ethics and Sustainability
- Explainable AI
These courses provide a strong foundation for understanding both the technical and human-centered aspects of AI. Course syllabi and literature lists are available on each course webpage.
Career Opportunities
After completing the program, you will be well prepared for roles in industry and research where AI systems interact closely with people. Potential career paths include AI developer, interactive system designer, data scientist, AI ethicist, or roles within research and development. The program also provides a solid foundation for pursuing doctoral studies.
