Welcome to Linnaeus University
You have applied and been accepted (given that you got a positive admission result) to 1TS043 Wood-based composites (7.5 credits) at the Faculty of Technology.

Introduction
We will start with a brief course introduction on 14 November (10:15-12:00) in a classroom and online via Zoom. The course contains knowledge on raw materials for wood composite manufacturing, production of veneer-, particle- and fibre-based panels, other common types of wood composites like inorganic- and plastic-based composites, and sustainability issues in wood composite industries.

Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, seminars, laboratory work, and study visits. Laboratory report, exam/assignments, study visit report, and final written exams are different course elements.

Meetings
It is possible to complete some part of the course elements from a distance. On December 16 (09:15 - 16:00), wood composite testing and laboratory work (Lab hall, building M). A study visit to the wood panel manufacturer will be held on December 15 (08:15-15:00). There is a possibility of canceling the study visits that we have arranged. In that case, contact the course coordinator for an alternative option.

Get a student account and register
You need a student account to register. At Lnu.se/nystudent you will find information on how to do it. Registration is required for you to begin the education you have been accepted for. 

Moodle
Moodle is the learning platform used at Linnaeus University. Here you will find the digital course room where students and teachers meet. You log in with your student account, see above. 

In the study guide, details about the course schedule, quiz/seminar, examination, grading criteria etc., are described, which is available on the Moodle page. This course will be taught in English. However, you can choose either English or Swedish in your final written exam.

Technical equipment
You need a computer and a USB headset with a built-in microphone to participate in digital meetings and presentations.

The list of course literature can be found in the course syllabus, which can be found here: Course and programme syllabi. Enter the course code or course name in the search field to get the current course plan. If there are multiple versions, choose the latest version.
