Welcome information, autumn semester 2025
Welcome to Linnaeus University's
Undergraduate Programme in Economics!
Congratulations! You have been admitted to the undergraduate economics programme, which will prepare you for a wide range of rewarding careers as an analyst or consultant across various sectors, including business, consultancy firms, financial institutions, government agencies, and non-profits. After completing the programme, you will possess essential skills in (big) data analysis, machine learning, and economic policy evaluation, opening doors to roles such as economic analyst, financial analyst, management consultant, policy advisor, market research analyst, or academic researcher, among others.
You will join a diverse group of students from many countries and backgrounds, learning in an environment led by active researchers who are experts in their fields. Our programme is continuously evolving, shaped by the insights and success stories of our alumni, who are now employed across companies, consultancies, and institutions worldwide.
With this letter, we would like to welcome you and provide you with important information before the start of the semester.
The programme code of your programme is EGNEK. The programme is provided by the Department of Economics and Statistics at the School of Business and Economics at Linnaeus University (AACSB accredited).
The programme covers 180 credits and three years. It is a fulltime campus programme, i.e., you are supposed to study fulltime, usually one course at a time for roughly five weeks each.
Tuition Fee
In order to start the programme, your tuition fee must have arrived in time. Payments can take up to several weeks depending on the country of origin. More information about tuition fees can be found at: www.lnu.se/en/student/new-student/tuition-fees-and-scholarships/
Obtain a student account and register
You must register to the programme and courses to start studying in your programme. To register, you need a student account. On www.lnu.se/en/student/new-student/ you find information on how to get an account. Last chance to register is the first week of the programme. If you do not register in time, you will lose your place in the programme for this year and students from the waiting list will take your place.
Once you have registered, you will have access to our online learning platform MyMoodle. This platform contains course rooms for each course, and a programme room for the undergraduate economics programme. This platform is used for communication between students and teachers.
Course literature
Your reading list can be found in your course/programme syllabus, which you find here: https://lnu.se/en/student/during-your-studies/course-and-programme-syllabi/
Type in the course code or the name of the course in the search bar to access your syllabus. If more than one version is available, choose the latest one.
Mathematics preparation before the programme
We strongly recommend that you review and strengthen your mathematics skills before the start of the programme. If necessary, please devote some time during the summer to work on these skills.
We recommend using the textbook, Essential Mathematics for Economic Analysis by Sydsaeter, K. & Hammond, P., which covers all the material for the second-year mathematics course, 1NA080. In particular, chapters 1 to 5 contain fundamental concepts that are also essential for your first-year courses.
Course/programme introduction
We start with a compulsory programme introduction meeting on Monday, August 25, 10:15 - 11:00 in room H1411V on campus Växjö.
If you need help finding your way, see our map at: https://lnu.se/en/meet-linnaeusuniversity/contact-and-visit-us/map/
Onboarding – introduction to your academic journey
On Tuesday, 9 September, you are invited to a day of onboarding. This is an introduction to university studies, what expectations there are, and what skills you will develop during your time as a student at the School of Business and Economics.
The School of Business and Economics will provide fika during the day.
The onboarding day will be visible in your schedule, where you can see the time and place.
We are here for you to help you get started!
Looking forward to meeting you in person in Växjö and being part of your journey!
