Welcome to Linnaeus University 
You have applied and been accepted (given that you got a positive admission result) to course 1TS013, Forest Products (7.5 credits) at the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology, Faculty of Technology. You are welcome to the course. 

Introduction
We will start with a brief course introduction on 20 January (13:15-15:00). The course contains knowledge on wood anatomy, wood structure; chemical and physical properties; timber storage, handling and durability issues; pulp and paper processes; logging operations, transports, measurement and grading.

Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, laboratory work and study visits. Laboratory report, wood block exam/assignment, study visit report and final written exam are different course elements.

Meetings
It is possible to complete all course elements from a distance, no compulsory meeting. On 07 April (09:15-15:00) laboratory work (Lab hall, building M) and woodblock review (13:15-15:00); 08 April (09:15-12:00) remaining laboratory work (Lab hall, building M) and the wood block exam (13:15-15:00). Each student will arrange their own study visit to a nearby sawmill or wood processing industry.

You need a student account in order to register. At Lnu.se/nystudent you will find information on how to do it. Registration is required for you to begin the education you have been accepted for. 

Moodle
MyMoodle is the learning platform used at Linnaeus University. Here you will find the digital course room where students and teachers meet. You log in with your student account, see above. 

In study guide, details about the course schedule, quiz, examination, grading criteria etc. are described which is available in MyMoodle page. This course will be taught in English. However, you can choose either English or Swedish in your final written exam.

Technical equipment
You need a computer and a USB headset with built-in microphone to participate in digital meetings and presentations. Read more
