Software Technology, Master Programme 60 credits
Welcome to Linnaeus University
Congratulation, you have been admitted to Software Technology, Master Programme 60 credits at the Faculty of Technology at Linnaeus University. With this page, I would like to introduce myself and provide you with brief information related to your master’s studies.
Introduction:My name is Nadeem Abbas, and I am Programme Director for the Master's programmes in Software Technology at Linnaeus University in Växjö. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at nadeem.abbas@lnu.se.
The program in Software Technology focuses on the development of complex software systems; systems with millions of lines of code, often distributed and involving a lot of different components. You will study theories, tools, and methods that are used for or enable the development of high-quality software. The program starts with a mix of practical and theoretical courses, so make sure that you refresh your programming and some of the mathematics/theoretical computer science before you start.
Visa/Residence Permit: If you are not an EU citizen or already have a residence permit in Sweden, you need to apply for a visa. In order to get a visa, you must contact the Swedish embassy responsible for your home country. The administrative process associated with visa applications is often very slow. Hopefully, you already know this and have started the process. If not, apply for a visa immediately! The university is not involved in the visa process, so unfortunately we cannot help you with that. If you have questions related visa, you should better contact the embassy or the Swedish Migration Agency
Study period (required in visa applications): 02 Sep, 2024 - 08 Jun, 2025.
Accommodation: You need a place to stay (accommodation) when you arrive in Växjö. Getting student accommodation can be difficult, especially if you wait too long. Hence, start looking for accommodation immediately! You should already have received information about this from the admission office. The student union also offers some help finding accommodation, see https://linnek.se/eng/bostadsportal/
Program Start: Information about the Mandatory "Program Start" Meeting will be posted here. The meeting is mandatory to attend for all admitted program students. The official program start date is Sept 02. In addition to this, there will be orientation days for all international students on August 29 and 30. The International Relations office will give more information on this.
Registration: The registration period opens on August 26 and closes on September 8, 2024. If you don't register in time, you will not be able to join and continue the program.
