The Higher Education Ordinance chapter 6, §22:

"A student who has taken two examinations in a course or a part of a course without obtaining a pass grade is entitled to the nomination of another examiner, unless there are special reasons to the contrary."

  • The replacement of an examiner means that the examination opportunities of a specific student during a fixed time period will be evaluated and graded by a different examiner than the one already decided upon at the beginning of the course.
  • This does not mean that a new evaluation and grading will be done for exams already taken.
  • The replacement of an examiner does not mean that the new examiner is required to create a new opportunity for examination.
  • Students that have been approved for the replacement of an examiner will participate at the next examination opportunity with the same examination as the other students in the course. The new approved examiner will evaluate and grade the student’s examination.

The Local rules for first-cycle andsecond-cycle courses andexamination prescribes that:

  • "The application should be submitted to the department/faculty responsible for the course (If the examiner and the grading teacher are not one and the same person in the relevant case, a decision can be made as to whether the grading teacher should also be replaced).
  • The application should be registered upon receipt.
  • A new examiner is approved in accordance with the scheme of delegation."

The processing time for changing examiners can take up to 30 working days, so the application should be received by the registrar in good time before the examination takes place. The decision is valid for the next examination from the date the application was received.
