Python test instructions - 3rd Attempt - January 14
This message is only relevant for students that have signed up for the third Python test on January 14.
Due to Covid 19 we have decided that all students should take the test remotely.
Each student has signed up for a certain time slot (08.00-10.00 or 11.00-13.00).
The instructions for distance students are rather detailed. Read them carefully and prepare for the test. Please post questions in Slack if you have questions related to the Python Test.
Rules:
- You must pass all exercises to pass the test,
- Aids: Paper, pen, your laptop, VS Code, the website docs.python.org/3/library/.
- No documentation of the code is needed.
- Bring a valid ID. You will not be allowed to take the test if you can't show a valid ID.
- Be there in time. Late arrivals will not be allowed to take the test.
- All other files in VS code must be closed during the test.
The Distance Test
We will use Zoom, Slack, and Moodle during the test. All other applications and browser tabs must be closed.
Slack (the ordinary 1DV501 channels) is used for questions during the test. You can post a question or post a direct question to the teacher monitoring your test. We will give you a Slack call if we want to get in contact with you during the test.
The test will be monitored using Zoom. You should setup an external webcam or a (fully charged) mobile phone to stream a video in such a way that you and your computer screen is in clear view during the test. We strongly suggest that you try it out in advance. The quality of the screen pictures must allow us to see what applications you are using (e.g. VS Code or a browser). You will be disqualified (i.e. fail the test) if the teachers monitoring the test can't see you and your screen during the test. Longer "technical failures" during the test will also result in a disqualification. Make sure to have your microphone and sound turned on when you enter Zoom. We will later (when the test starts) ask you to turn off the sound (but not the microphone!). Also, make sure that your Zoom display name matches your full name.
Take a look at these instructions for how to set up your mobile phone via zoom.
Moodle is where we will give you access to the test and where you will submit your solutions. Inside the Python Test section you will find:
- The actual Python test exercises (a pdf document) that will made available when the test starts.
- A submission system where you will be able to submit your solutions (Python code) to the two exercises. There will be text fields where you simply paste the Python code you would like to submit. A teacher will then immediately try to correct and give you feedback on our submissions. You will be able to submit code several times during the test. Hence, if you receive a non-pass feedback: Fix the problem and submit again. The submission system is already open, take a look at it and get familiar with it.
Thursday, 8-10: Log into zoom at 07.50. Be prepared to show a valid ID. The test starts at 08.00. The Thursday group has 14 registered students and is divided into three groups using three different zoom channels:
