Rules for Assignments

  • The practical assignments 1-3 are individual. No exceptions!
  • You must use the assigned submission method when you hand-in your practical assignments! Unauthorized mail submissions will be ignored.
  • Assignment 1 and 2 are corrected at the tutoring sessions (or by a video meeting for distance students).
  • Certain exercises in Assignment 1 and 2 are marked as If time permits. These exercises are not mandatory (but recommended).
  • Assignment 3 is submitted using GitLab.
  • You must submit your Assignment 1 before the deadline
    • No submission -->  you are not active --> you might be removed from the course
    • Not complete submission --> your submitted exercises will be corrected --> you will have to resubmit a complete solution at a later time
  • The assignments are a part of the examination process. You must pass all  assignments + the Python Test + the Mini-project to pass the course. The assignments are given a weight (impact factor) of 60% in the final grades. The mini-project is given a weight of 40%. We use the ECTS grading system (A-F) to grade each practical assignment.
  • Assignments that pass (grades A-E) are corrected and graded only once. You are not given a second chance to hand in an updated or improved version.
  • Assignments that fail (grade F) are given two new attempts to hand in improved versions after the course has been completed: 1) about four weeks after the course, 2) in early December.
  • Cheating: Each student should hand in an individual set of solutions. Notice, you can exchange ideas between students, not solutions. Any sign of plagiarism will result in an ECTS grade F for all the involved students. As an example, students who copy (parts of the) programs from colleagues or from elsewhere, without giving proper references, fail the course automatically. The same holds for students which get others (friends, relatives, hired skilled persons) to complete their assignments for them. Serious cases will be reported to the Disciplinary Board at the Principal's office for further inquires.
  • If you don't hand in the assignments before the given deadline your grades will be lowered. Exceptions from this rule can be given if you, within a reasonable time before the actual deadline, contact your teaching assistant and give a reasonable explanation.
  • Non-approved missed deadlines or assignments that fail: Top grade A is no longer possible.

Please contact Jonas Lundberg if you have any questions regarding these rules. Contact your assignment supervisor to get additional details.
