Welcome to Linnaeus University and the Master Programme in Mathematics and Modelling
My name is Wolfgang Bock. As the coordinator of the Master Programme in Mathematics and Modelling, I am glad wish you welcome as an admitted student to one of the two specializations of this programme: Algebra with Cryptography and Coding or Mathematical Statistics and Financial Mathematics.

Introduction meeting
At the introduction meeting you will get an overview of the programme. Depending on your chosen specialization, you also select the elective courses for the first semester at this meeting (see below for a list of the courses).
Important
Late registration is not possible! If you do not register in Ladok, you will lose your admission to the programme. Registration means that you participate in the courses, and you cannot request a refund after registration. If, for unforeseen events you cannot participate physically on campus on day one, you must take part of the courses in the digital course rooms.

an International student enrolled at Linnaeus University, you might have to

List of courses in the first semester
Each semester is divided into two so-called study periods. In each study period, you study two courses in parallel.

Career opportunities after completing the programme
In today's modern society, mathematics plays an increasingly significant role in science, humanities and industry. The increasing rate at which information and data are collected places a great demand on effective mathematical models and methods for dealing with this knowledge.
A master's degree in mathematical modeling opens up opportunities for an interesting career with a lot of variety in business and academia. Future professions can be found at companies that use advanced mathematical models, for example in audio and image processing, information security, electric power, machine and the construction industry. Students who follow the Mathematical Statistics and Financial Mathematics specialization are also interesting for insurance companies and banks.
The aim of this programme is to provide the students with extended depth of knowledge in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and an ability to develop mathematical models in an area of application. You can also continue with a postgraduate education in the field of mathematics.
