1EN801 Creative Writing in English - The Short Story

Welcome to Creative Writing in English – The Short Story (1EN801)!
During this course, you will study the short story as a genre and write an original story through process writing.
This part-time distance course will run from 30 August 2021 to 16 January 2022. There will be weekly online assignments, but no compulsory webinars or similar joint activities requiring scheduling.
Note that you will have to register on the course in order to be able to follow it. The registration service opens about 1 week before the course starts. You can register online here. You must register by 08:00 on 6 September. If you fail to do this, we will assume that you are no longer interested and give your place to someone on the waiting list. If you have any problems with online registration, please contact the course coordinator (see contact details at the bottom of this page). Please also note that students who are not participating actively in the course during the first two weeks will be crossed off the register.
If you decide not to take the course, after registering on it, please contact Anna Lundberg (anna.lundberg@lnu.se) so that she can take you off the lists.
Please note that you will need a student account log-in to be able to access the course material in the course management tool MyMoodle. This service opens about one week before the course starts.
Remember to acquire the required literature before the course begins. Note, however, that one of the textbooks, Gioia & Gwynn (eds), The Art of the Short Story, is currently sold out in many places and you will therefore not be expected to purchase it – replacement resources will be provided for anyone who cannot get a hold of the book. Further, some of the books are available as e-texts through the university library – please refer to the syllabus for details.
