Welcome to Linnaeus University

You are accepted to the 1-year master’s programme in Software Technology (NADA1) at the Faculty of Technology.

Introduction

My name is Morgan Ericsson, and I am Programme Director for the Master's programmes in Software Technology at Linnaeus University in Växjö. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at morgan.ericsson@lnu.se.

The program in Software Technology focuses on the development of complex software systems; systems will millions of lines of code, often distributed and involving a lot of different components. You will study theories, tools, and methods that are used for or enable the development of high-quality software. The programme involves both theoretical and practical aspects; you will, for example, learn all about the theory behind compilers and implement your compiler for a language.

The program starts with a mix of practical and theoretical courses, so make sure that you refresh your programming and some of the mathematics/theoretical computer science before you start.

Again, welcome to Växjö and Linnaeus University. I look forward to meeting you in September!

Information

The programme introduction meeting is September 2 (15:15-16:00 in D1173A_V). If you for some reason are unable to attend this and course start meetings contact me as soon as possible.

Please visit https://lnu.se/en/education/Before-your-studies/ for more information about what you need to do before your studies, such as registering, accounts, etc.

Syllabi/Literature

You will take five courses during your first semester:

  • Systems Modeling and Simulation
  • Code Transformation and Interpretation
  • Formal methods
  • Scientific Methods in Computer Science
  • Project in Modelbased Development

Reading materials and such are available in the syllabi that are available on each of the courses’ webpages. Note that the program structure and all courses are new this year, so if some information is missing, please contact me.

You can find more information about the full program and what courses you will take later years at:

The first semester is almost the same no matter if you take the 1- or 2-year master, so it is possible to switch between the two. Contact me if you want to do so (at any time during the first semester, but earlier is better).
