Welcome to English for upper secondary school teachers, term IIIThis full-time course will run during the autumn term 2021 (30 August–6 January). The course is based at the Växjö campus of Linnaeus University, Sweden.

The compulsory course introduction meeting takes place on Monday 30 August, 10.00-12.00 on Zoom. You will find the Zoom room on TimeEdit. If you cannot attend the meeting, please contact the course coordinator (see contact details at the bottom of this page), before the meeting takes place. If you fail to do this, we will assume that you are no longer interested and give your place to someone on the waiting list.

For required reading prior to the first workshop in the course on literary theories in EFL, please check the MyMoodle page (information will be available there from w. 34). This workshop will take place on 31 Aug, 10.15-13.00. Except for the novel Kindred, all of the books that we will be using are available as e-books at the library website.

The course Language teaching theories and methods also starts in the first week of term. You will need the following literature by the start of the semester (note that some of the course literature is available as e-books at the university library homepage):

Denscombe, Martyn. 2017 (6th ed.). The Good Research Guide for Small-scale Social Research Projects. London: Open University Press. 395 s. ISBN: 978-0-3352-2686-3

Loewen, Shawn & Sato, Masatoshi (editors). 2017. The Routledge Handbook of Instructed Second Language Acquisition. Abingdon: Routledge. 300  s. (urval). ISBN: 978-0-367-14138-7

As you all know, the English department uses the learning management system MyMoodle. Please note that you will need a student account log-in to be able to access the course material in MyMoodle. This service opens about one week before the course starts.

Note that you will have to register on the course in order to be able to follow it. You can sometimes register online. However, if this does not work you will be registered when attending the compulsory introductory meeting.

If you decide not to take the course, after registering on it, please contact our Ladok secretary so that she can take you off the lists.

For contact information and links to MyMoodle, schedules and other relevant information, please scroll down!

Please note that students who are not participating actively in the course during the first two weeks will be crossed off the register.
If you have any further questions before the course starts, please do not hesitate to contact us.

With kind regards,
