Welcome to your English first semester course. This full-time course will run during the autumn term 2021 (30 August-16 January). The course is based at the Växjö campus of Linnaeus University, Sweden.
Remember to purchase some of the literature before the course begins. Make sure you allow for delivery time when you order online. You will need the following literature at the very beginning of term:

- Gardner, Janet E. and Joanne Diaz. Reading and Writing about literature: A Portable Guide. The latest edition. Boston: Bedford/St. Martin's. The reading list for the literature courses will also comprise the following three titles in the order that they are stated here:

The module Introduction to English linguistics begins a few weeks into term, but you need to have the book by the end of September.
- Yule, George. 2020. 7th edition. The study of language. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (course codes 1EN001 and 1ENÄ12)
Other books on the literature list will be needed later in the term.
The English department uses a course management tool called MyMoodle. Please note that you will need a student account log-in to be able to access the course material in MyMoodle. This service opens about one week before the course starts.
Note that you will have to register on the course in order to be able to follow it. You can sometimes register online. However, if this does not work you will be registered when attending the compulsory introductory meeting.
If you decide not to take the course, after registering on it, please contact our Ladok secretary so that she can take you off the lists.
