Completion requirements
6. Supervision
- Each student is entitled to six individual supervisions. These are schedule to take place across the course Modules. Initiated by you, you and your supervisor will agree on the day and time, following guidelines given under each Module.
What you should expect from your supervisor
- That the supervisor will be involved in the choice of research question, theory and method.
- That the supervisor reads your submitted texts and provides constructive oral and written opinions.
- That the supervisor will inform you if your text has language issues. But you cannot expect that your supervisor will proofread your thesis.
- That the supervisor is available as support when you are not making progress.
- That the supervisor adapts the supervision if you have any type of impairment or other special need that impacts your work.
- That the supervisor informs you of their judgement of whether the thesis is ready for presentation at the final examination seminar (which is in no way a guarantee that the thesis will receive a passing grade).
What your supervisor expects of you
- That you follow the instructions provided in the next chapters of the course e-book on how to write the thesis.
- That you initiate and participate in all supervision meetings.
- That you submit a text for review well in advance of each supervision meeting (in .doc format which is easy to review or any other that you agree to with your supervisor).
- That the texts you submit have been edited and include page numbering and a table of contents.
- That you have your copy of the draft and take notes during the meeting.
- That you really consider the supervisor's opinions and have an open attitude to advice and changes.
