5. Examination and degree

LNU rules and guidelines

  • Rules for courses and examination link
    • Each course ends with an exam
      • Different forms: written, oral, home exam, seminar, project...
    • Exam grades: A (best) - B - C - D - E - Fx (completion needed) - F (fail) 
    • One can take re-exam only in case of F, not to improve the grade, following University regulations
    • Usually, but not a rule, exam period 1 is given at the end of the course; exam period 2 a few weeks after this; and another exam may be offered in August, contact your teacher. 
    • Grades are reported in Ladok: https://www.student.ladok.se/
      • In Ladok you can also get certificates


Obtaining a degree

Once you have completed your studies you can apply for your degree certificate. Please note that you will not receive a degree certificate automatically after your studies.


  • Master (60 ECTS: 45 ECTS courses + 15 ECTS thesis)
  • Master (120 ECTS: 90 ECTS courses + 30 ECTS thesis)
