  • The doctoral education at FTK is coordinated through the faculty’s Research Board (FoN). FoN prepares matters for the Faculty Board and for the Dean’s decision meetings. As a doctoral student representative, you have the opportunity to influence revisions of general study plans, admission of doctoral students, and preparation of dissertations.

    Purpose of the body: The faculty’s main body for preparing matters related to doctoral education.

    Participants: The faculty’s Vice Dean for Research and Doctoral Education, five members with docent-level competence, and one doctoral student representative.

    Meeting frequency: Approximately 6 meetings per year.

    Common matters: Research and doctoral education issues of strategic importance to the faculty.

    The Research Board has the following tasks within research and doctoral education:

    • Handle matters on behalf of the Rector’s central preparatory and decision-making bodies.
    • Develop strategies and priorities to strengthen and consolidate the faculty’s research and doctoral education.
    • Propose faculty-wide initiatives that strengthen the faculty’s research and doctoral education.
    • Ensure quality and follow up on the faculty’s research and doctoral education, as well as initiate measures aimed at quality development.
    • Work on issues related to gender equality, equal opportunities, and diversity within the board’s area of responsibility.
