Pre-assignment
Section outline
-
This is the small initial assignment that you need to complete and submit at latest 10 September or you will be un-registered from the course. It will give you a chance to think about what you know about IT Security and share experiences and ideas with other students on the course.
You should submit a small report. The report should be at between 300 and 600 words long. The report should have two sections and be submitted directly as text into MyMoodle.
The two sections you should address are:
-
Describe one or several IT security incidents that you personally have experienced.
Write about what happened and what consequences there were. Think that an incident is anything that violates a security policy (or for a private person anything that you think is an undesired activity). It can be forgotten information, lost devices, direct attacks etc. -
Media report almost daily about different IT security incidents. Think back about what you have seen in media in the last few months. Reference these news and have a short discussion about the incident.
Do not write your name in the report text since I might share the text with the other students on the course.
The assignment is mandatory and you have to submit at latest Friday 10 September. Failing to do that will lead to you being unregistered from the course.

In the attached PDF you can read all the submissions on the two questions in the pre-assignment from previous years students. There are some very interesting stories here!
