In this course, you will learn about Scandinavian and Swedish film. The course will follow a chronological structure with lectures, film screenings, and group discussions providing an overview of Scandinavian film history, with a particular focus on Sweden. Among other things, we will discuss the relationship between film and society, Scandinavian art cinema and auteurs such as Ingmar Bergman, and problematise national cinema as category. In a presentation assignment, you will analyse a contemporary Scandinavian film.
