Dear Student,

Here’s a greeting from the study counsellors at the Faculty of Technology. We hope you’ve had a great start to the academic year and that you, as a new student, are settling in well.

We are three study councellors here to support you throughout your studies. We’ve recently welcomed a new colleague, Cajsa Svensson, and you can now find us in the following locations:

Whether you are a new student or have been here for a while, we are here to answer your questions and provide the guidance you need.

Future Focus – an event for those looking ahead!

On December 16, first-year students are especially welcome to join the event Future Focus, and all students from the Faculty of Technology are invited, subject to availability.

Future Focus is an inspiring afternoon featuring speakers from both industry and Linnaeus University. The event aims to give you a clearer picture of the job market after graduation and inspire you to complete your degree successfully.

You can find the program and registration HERE.

How are your studies going?

We hope you’re settling into your courses and that student life is running smoothly. However, challenges and obstacles can arise. Is something feeling off? Does your program not feel like the right fit? Are you struggling to keep up with your studies? There’s plenty of help and support available! Reach out to one of our student advisors to learn about the resources and support tailored to your needs.

We also want to highlight the library’s study skills guide. It’s an excellent resource for new students. If you’ve been with us for a while, perhaps it’s time to start preparing for thesis writing? The library also provides great resources and tips for this. Visit their website and make use of the support available.

Participate

One thing we’d like to emphasize is the importance of being present at the university and actively participating in your studies. Attend lectures, seminars, supervision sessions, and Q&A opportunities. Treat your studies as a 9-to-5 job, with the university as your workplace. For distance students, the same applies, even if you may not be physically present. Our experience shows that active participation significantly increases the likelihood of success.

Form Study Groups

Forming study groups and working with fellow students is also a major factor for success. Study groups encourage active engagement, mutual support, and the opportunity to bridge knowledge gaps. They also reduce feelings of isolation and stress by providing a sense of community and support. In short, they create a dynamic learning environment that boosts your chances of academic and personal success.

Get Involved

The faculty has four student associations we’re very proud of: SPIIK, LAMBDA, VÄXT, and WÄDUR. These associations do fantastic and important work, and we strongly encourage you to get involved. We assume you’ve already encountered them, but if not, you can find them via the Linnaeus Union’s website
